System Engineering Department

The main task of the System Engineering Department is to generate, process, handle analog-digital image textual, graphical and pictorial information onto photosensitive materials by means of laser based equipment. For fulfilling these aims we developed new algorithms, userfriendly software packages, hardware and software interfaces and laser-based peripherical devices applicable mainly for the printing industry and the manufacturing of printed circuit board

Description

The System Engineering Department as the successor of the Laser Laboratory has been dealing with the development of laser writing-reading equipment since 1975. During this period they have developed numerous intelligent peripheries, work stations. Their activity is first of all evident in the domain of DTP (Desk Top Publishing), the DTP2 (Desk Top Pre-Press), the CTP (Computer to Plate), and on the PCB's CAD/CAM. Currently they are working on a digital motion picture restoration system for archives. It can be said about them that they are the only development team in this domain which could brake into the market dominated by such multi-national enterprises like the Agfa, the ECRM, the BARCO, the SCITEX, etc. and they have stood there for ten years by now. The main results of the research-development activity of the Departement are shown in the table that follows:
