Graduate and Post Graduate Education
MTA SZTAKI is a Research Institute having co-operation agreements and/or affiliations with seven universities1 located in many corners of Hungary. The agreements require the Institute to provide both research facilities and scientific guidance for PhD students in such varied fields as: Artificial understanding and human language technology, Decision-making in economy, Dynamic control systems, Information sciences, Production and information management, Multimodal sensory systems, Deep-submicron design technologies and Neuromorphic information technology.
About 30 Ph.D. candidates are doing research at our Institute at any one time; A prestigious honor "The SZTAKI Student of the Year Prize" is awarded to the best student each year. The Institute's researchers are either founders or taking part actively in four doctoral programs at affiliated universities. Some of these programs were founded by researchers from the Institute.
Independently from the above individuals working at MTA SZTAKI, have affiliations with institutions of learning and research throughout the World - some of the more notable ones are: University of California at Berkeley, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Leuven, Notre Dame University (USA), University of Westminster (UK), Tokushima University, Japan etc...
The major Doctoral schools and programs are as follows:
- Since 1992, in collaboration with four Universities and the Neurobiology Research unit of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Semmelweis University a Doctoral program and a Postdoctoral Center on Neuromorphic Information Technology has been active. In 2002, a new multidisciplinary Doctoral School evolved from the doctoral program (accredited at the Pázmány University).
- The Computer science Doctoral School is accredited at Lóránd Eötvös University of Science - Budapest
- The Technical Informatics Doctoral School at University of Veszprem
- The Integrated Manufacturing is an off campus cooperative Doctoral School of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics
